Achievable Goals, Part 1

You’ve taken the time to write out your goals. You’ve phrased them in a positive way so you are expressing exactly what you want to be, have, do. You can even describe your goal in specific details.

Suddenly out of nowhere this uncomfortable feeling sets in. Something is terribly wrong.

In an interview with Anthony Robbins from the January, 2009 Success Magazine article “Unleashing the Power” by Marc Figueroa, Tony Robbins explains what your gut is telling you. I quote:

“Even when the goal is crystal clear, and it’s truly a must for you to achieve, is that enough to succeed? Often it can be. But if you find yourself either failing to act or pulling back, or even sabotaging yourself, there’s one reason: You have Inner Conflicts. Those can show up in fears and doubts, or they can show up as limiting beliefs in the form of fear or doubts. You may have a burning desire to experience absolute financial abundance, to be wealthy. But you may also have a conflicting belief that says: “I don’t want anyone to judge me.” These two goals are in complete conflict. Or you have a desire to achieve a goal but simultaneously believe that you’re not strong enough, smart enough, or educated enough to make it happen. Unless you uncover these inner conflicts, they will cause you to fail.”

These words are worth serious consideration.  Read this paragraph several times. Let the words sink in. Anthony Robbins knows what he is talking about.

Here is a suggestion from Jack Canfield to help get past these inner conflicts.  He suggests that you write your description of what your life would be like after achieving your goal(s). You do this for thirty days.   If you skip a day, you will have to start over.

What’s Your Gut Telling You

You will be amazed at what you will set in motion. You will  see what you inner conflicts are telling you about your perceptions and what your thinking and feeling down deep in your gut.  You will also raise your belief!

I can’t tell you how important it is to discover these inner conflicts.  For me, as with most of us, our perceptions and inner beliefs about who we are, etc.  color everything we do in life at some level of our being.

A big lesson that I have learned is that most goals we set are achievable and realistic on the surface.  Our inner conflicts is what prevents them from materializing.

Aren’t these Universal Laws of Success exciting?!

Watch for Part 2 of Achievable Goals coming next week when we begin our study  into the Law of Thinking.

I always like to hear your comments.  If I can assist you in any way, please let me know.

How perfectly written! I struggle with simplifying these steps and you did a fabulous job! It is true, You must find the inner thoughts that conflict with your conscious desire so that success comes to you more easily. Thank you Paulette! Very well done!

Hey Paulette,
My biggest problem seems to be that I set my goals without any particular time-frame in mind. Though I KNOW that I should put a time limit on myself to achieve each goal, I find it VERY difficult to judge how much time a particular task should take. If I were driving somewhere I don’t know, my GPS would give me a “time of arrival” but trying to educate my inner GPS is very difficult for me.
I really appreciate the time and effort you put into you VERY well-considered posts.
Luke.

You have captured the real essence of what holds us back from active “self actualization”. Realizing our true potential, purpose and prodigious talent. Setting achievable goals that will take us to that next dimension.

Abundant friendship
